DEARBORN GIRL IS MARRIED TO MR. MCCONKEY

Mr. and Mrs. George M. McConkey, jr., who were united in marriage Saturday evening in the Dearborn Presbyterian Church, have left to make their home in Frederiksted, St. Crois, Virgin Islands, where Mr. McConkey is establishing a commercial maintenance business.

The bride is the former Violette Helene Nowicki, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Nowicki of Dearborn. Mr. McConkey’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. George M. McConkey of Washtenaw Ave.

For her marriage, the bride chose a Grecian-styled gown of white chiffon designed with long sleeves and a full, draped skirt. Her fingertip veil was caught to a chiffon covered crown and she carried a white orchid atop a white Bible.

Wears Crepe Gown

Mrs. Doris Doubek of Dearborn, as honor matron, wore a purple crepe gown and carried orchids. John S. Hafer of Cedar Rapids, Ia., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was the best man.

The ushers were Eric Hansen of Ann Arbor and Douglas Chapman of St. Clair Shores.

About 50 members of the immediate families and close friends attended a reception and buffet supper at the Nowicki home.

Attend Wedding

Among those attending were the bridegroom’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. De Vore of Meadville, Pa., and their son Donald. Another sister, Mrs. John S. Hafer and her daughter, Helen Jean, came with Mr. Hafer, who served as best man.

When the couple left for their trip to the Virgin Islands, the bride was attired in a navy crepe dress with a winter-white coat, a small white feather hat and blue accessories.

The former Miss Nowicki attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. Mr. McConkey attended the University here and Colorado A & M at Fort Collins, Colo. He served as a pilot with the Air Force during the war.
