Mrs. William Hertler
Woman, 84, Dies After Lingering Illness
Mrs. Christina Hertler, 84, widow of the late William Hertler, died last night at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. George Combs of 514 S. Seventh St., after a lingering illness.
Born on Sept. 20, 1865, in Germany, she was a daughter of Frederick and Christina Hanselman Elsasser. She came to Washtenaw county in 1881.
She married Mr. Hertler in Saline on Feb. 16, 1892. They lived in Saline township a year before moving to a farm home in Pittsfield township. Mr. Hertler died on March 29, 1932.
Mrs. Hertler had lived with her granddaughter since July, 1949. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Oscar Alber, Mrs. Ernest Korndorfer, Miss Martha Hertler and Mrs. Everett DeBorde, all of Ann Arbor, and Mrs. Elwood Naugle of Billings, Mont.; four sons, Herman and August, both of Ann Arbor, Emanuel of Saline and Alwin of Huntley, Mont.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Muehlig Chapel, with Rev. H. L. Engle officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel.
