Warehouse Store Will Be Closed

Handicraft Firm TV Use Building For Storage

The Warehouse Furniture Store at 529 Detroit St. will become a warehouse by July 1.

The firm is owned by Harold J. Lepard, president of the Handicraft Furniture Co., and his brother, Dr. Cecil W. Lepard of Detroit.

When the business is closed out the building will be used to provide storage space for the Handicraft Furniture Co.

The late Mr. and Mrs. Ward Lepard started the Detroit St. business in 1932, some 15 years after establishing the Handicraft store at 337 E. Liberty St. Originally it was used for used furniture sales but gradually it became a new furniture store.

Ivan Friday, manager at Warehouse Furniture for the past 10 years, has been transferred to the main Handicraft store at 337 E. Liberty St.

The old brick building on Detroit St., with its adjacent sheds of frame, has been a landmark in the neighborhood for more than 100 years. Originally the building was used for a sawmill.
