John Alling
Former Navy Pilot Succumbs To Niness
John Alling, 32, of 3123 Geddes Ave., died Friday night in University Hospital after a long illness.
He had been employed in the time study and method department of King-Seeley Corp.
The son of Mrs. Robert B. Alling of 3125 Geddes Ave. and the late Mr. Alling, he was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Highland Park, Mich. He attended Detroit Public Schools, the Silig Institute in Vevey, Switzerland, schools in Frankfurt, Germany, and Phillips Academy at Andover, Mass.
Mr. Alling was graduated from Amherst College at Amherst, Mass., in 1940. He entered the U. S. Naval Aviation School at Pensacola, Fla., in August of that year,
receiving his wings in June of - 1941. He served 20 months with - the fleet on active duty in the - Pacific, leaving the Navy in September, 1946, with the rank of
lieutenant commander. E. Mr. Alling attended the graduate school of the University and received a master's degree in business administration in 1947. He then joined King-Seeley Corp.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Donaldson, and two children, Robert Babson, II, and Martha; his mother; a brother, James T. Alling of Toledo, O.; and tour sisters, Elizabeth Alling and Mrs. Joseph Edwards, both of -Ann Arbor, Mrs. Francis Lynch of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. S. R. Greg? of San Francisco, Calif.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
