Stacy’s Court Date Postponed
Zelda Clarkson ‘Visits’ Local Authorities
Arraignment of Robert H. Stacy, University teaching fellow who has confessed the June 6 Haven Hall fire, was postponed this morning.
Prosecutor Douglas K. Reading indicated today he was not sure whether Stacy would be arraigned for a plea tomorrow or Thursday.
Meanwhile police and Reading reported that Miss Zelda Clarkson, Stacy’s ex-girl friend whose tip led to his arrest, visited them yesterday.
Police Chief Casper Enkemann said he and Miss Clarkson talked briefly about the case and then she left.
"I honestly don’t know where she is today,” the chief said, in answer to newsmen’s queries. He said all of her telephone conversations with j police had been conducted via pay phones and that he did not know where she is living.
Miss Clarkson literally ‘‘disappeared” after Stacy’s arrest. She presumably would be the state’s chief witness if Stacy pleads not guilty.
