Native of France Had Lived Here 49 Years
John F. Kielwasser, 84, a resident of Ann Arbor for the past 49 years, died early this morning at his home, 228 Eighth St., after a long illness.
Mr. Kielwasser was born Feb. 21, 1866, in Alsace-Lorraine, a son of Frank and Josephine Ott Kielwasser. He came to the United States in 1873 with his parents. They settled in Wisconsin.
On March 10, 1897, he was married in Chicago to the former Caroline L. Kapp of Ann Arbor, who survives. They moved to Ann Arbor in 1901.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kielwasser is survived by a son, George Kielwasser of Tecumseh, and two daughters, Mrs. Hartley VanKleek and Mrs. Paul Preketes, both of Ann Arbor; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Carrie Sandman of Sharon, Wis.
Funeral services for Mr. Kielwasser will be held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon in the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, conducted by Rev. Walter M. Brandt. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
