Clark B. Potter Succumbs At 59

Was Vice-President Of King Engineering

Clark B. Potter, 59, vice-president and secretary of the King Engineering Corp. here, died last night in St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. His home was at 1611 W. Stadium Blvd.

Mr. Potter, along with George W. Willard, now president of King Engineering Corp., purchased the hydrostatic gauge department from King-Seeley Corp. here and formed a separate corporation in 1937.

Mr. Potter had previously been employed in that department a,t King-Seeley.

Attended University

Coming to Ann Arbor in 1914, Mr. Potter attended the University College of Engineering. He entered the Army, serving first on the Mexican border, and later in World War I.

While on the Mexican border he served under Col. Ambrose C. Pack, of Ann Arbor.

A first lieutenant, he lost his right leg, from the knee down, in the Battle of Chateau-Thierry in France. He served with Co. E, 126th Infantry, of the 32nd (Red Arrow) division.

Potter was the only officer to play on the Red Arrow Division's football team, which was the charfipion of all service teams at the time.

Mr. Potter was a member of the Disabled Engineering Officers organization of the First World War and a former member of the American Legion.

Mr. Potter was born in Kimball, S. D., on Oct. 3, 1891, a son of Rev. Isaac P. and Minnie Potter.

Wife Survives

He married the former Miss Louise Taylor in Ann Arbor on Oct. 8, 1917. She survives.

Surviving besides his wife are his mother, Mrs. I. P. Potter of White Lake, S. D.; one daughter, Mrs. Archibald Lourie of Annapolis, Md.; a son, Walter Taylor Potter of Melvindale; and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Ray Beck of Sioux Falls, S. D., Mrs. Floyd Tabor of Madison, S. D., Mrs. Herbert Padgett of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Underwood Hilton of White Lake, S. D.; and three brothers, George S. of Fair Oaks, Calif., Wesley of Lead, S. D., and Rev. Paul Potter of Ruthven, Ia.

The body will be cremated. Memorial services, to be held later, are being arranged by the Dolph Funeral Home. Friends are requested to omit flowers and send contributions instead to the American Heart Association.
