Lions Club Nets $1,500 In Drive
Funds Will Be 'Used For Help To Blind

Some 700 persons have contributed a total of $1,500 to the Ann Arbor Lions Club's drive for funds to support its program of aid to the blind, club officials reported today. The campaign will continue for two weeks.

The drive was begun following statewide observance of White Cane Week, May 6-12.
Since 1947, the local Lions Club has provided the following services, in connection with its county-wide program of help to those with impaired vision: 189 refractions (sight tests), 172 pairs of glasses, 10 eye operations and two leader
dogs.

The club also provides white canes to blind persons without charge and offers such services as readers for the blind, Braille equipment, ceiling readers for the handicapped and other special requirements.

In terms of money, the Ann Arbor club has spent some $11,200 in the 1947-50 period in its blind work. 1 The club president is John M. Morrow.
