Former Chelsea Woman Killed In Accident
CHELSEA - Mrs. Eva H. Wood, 68, formerly of Chelsea and wife of the late Dr. O. G. Wood of Hart, Mich., was killed Monday afternoon in an automobile accident at Nunica, northwest of Grand Rapids. She was returning to her home in Hart.
Mrs. Wood was born in Lima township on Nov. 22, 1882, a daughter of Henry and Jennie Geddes Luick.
She lived there until the time of her marriage to Dr. Wood on Jan. 11, 1905. The couple then made their home in Hart. Dr. Wood died on May 5, 1931.
Mrs. Wood was active in church and civic activities at Hart, being a member of the Congregational Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
She had served as organist of the O.E.S. chapter there for 25 years and had served as Oceana County Red Cross chairman in World War I and World War II.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Merle Wood of Hart; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold H. Luick of Detroit and William G. Luick of Chelsea.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning at the Hart Congregational Church, with Rev. H. B. Oliver officiating.
Further services will be held at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Chelsea Congregational Church, with both Rev. Mr. Oliver and Rev. W. H. Skentelbury, Chelsea pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Chelsea.
