Three hundred East Ann Arbor residents held a joint celebration Saturday afternoon to dedicate their new $183,000 elementary school building, to honor their first school superintendent, Mary D. Mitchell, for whom the school is named, and to mark the 25th anniversary of the district's founding. A luncheon at the Michigan Union was given by the Board of Education to honor Mrs. Mitchell and all past presidents of the Pittsfield School District No. 9. Shown above are three who participated in the celebration at the school. Left to right they are former Dean James B. Edmonson of the University School of Education, Mrs. Mitchell and Raymond Sorg of the present board.
