Employe Dies At 72
Oscar F. Weitbrecht, 72, a re-
tired Post Office employe recently
employed at the Muehlig and Lan
phear Hardware Co., died !;•
sight at his home, 410 Thompson
St., after an illness of two months.
Mr. Weitbrecht was born on
Jan. 22, 1880, in Ann Arbor, a son
of Christian and Fredricka Haeus-
sler Weitbrecht.
He was married to Bertha Guen-
ther on July 5, 1905, in Ann Arbor.
She survives.
A lifelong Ann Arbor resident,
Mr. Weitbrecht retired in 1943
after 38 years' service at the Post
Office.
A member of Zion Lutheran
Church and the Brotherhood of
ih^ church, he served on the vestry
many years and as financial
.secretary for several years.
He was an honorary life mem-
ber of Golden Rule Lodge, a char-
ter member of Zai Gaz Grotto and
belonged to the Modern Woodmen
America. He served in the N
•r nal Guard from 1901 to 1904.
Surviving, besides his wife, are
two daughters, Mrs. Arthur L. Rob-
inett of Ypsilanti, and Mrs. Edwin
E. Walters of Ann Arbor; three
grandchildren, Peter, James and
Judy Walters, all of Ann Arbor,
and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m.
Friday at the Muehlig Chapel, with
Rev. E. C. Stellhorn officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Cem-
etery. Friends may call at the
chapel.
