Heart Attack Fatal To Professor's Widow
Mrs. May Aileen White Grismore, 63, widow of Prof. Grover C. Grismore of the University Law School, died suddenly yesterday after a heart attack at her home, 1914 Day St. Mrs. Grismore had just returned from a shopping trip when stricken.
She was born on Oct. 21, 1890, in Detroit, a daughter of Charles Bradley and Mamie Belle Hare White. Mrs. Grismore received a bachelor's degree at the University in 1913 and a doctor's degree the following year. She was married to Prof. Grismore on Sept. 1, 1917, at Ann Arbor. He died in 1951.
During World War I, she taught school at Battle Creek, while her husband was in service. The couple had lived here since the end of the war.
Mrs. Grismore was a member of the University Faculty Women's Club and was a patroness of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
Survivors include a son, Roger Grismore of Ann Arbor; a granddaughter, Carol Ann Grismore at home; a sister, Mrs. Carroll F. Sullivan of Detroit; and three brothers, David C. White, a retired admiral now living in Hawaii, and Robert and John White, both of Detroit.
Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Muehlig Chapel, Dr. William P. Lemon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends, who may call at the chapel until Wednesday noon, are asked to omit flowers.
