Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Brown, 87, who died suddenly shortly before noon yesterday, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William P. Lemon officiating.
Mrs. Brown, widow of the late William E. Brown, sr., and mother of Ann Arbor's Mayor William E. Brown, jr., died at her home, 1517 Granger Ave.
She was born July 8, 1867, at Lapeer, a daughter of Charles and Effie Palmer. Her father was a banker and the founder of Imlay City.
Mrs. Brown was reared in Imlay City and came here first to attend Ann Arbor High School, from which she was graduated, and later the University.
On Sept. 3, 1890, at Imlay City, she was married to Mr. Brown, an attorney, and they made their home at Lapeer. He later was a prosecuting attorney and a member of the Michigan Senate and of the state constitutional convention of 1907. He died in 1928.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown came to Ann Arbor to live in 1916, two years after Mayor Brown moved here.
