Edwin E. Linton

Edwin E. Linton, 84, of 215 1/2 N. State St., a former mason contractor here, died Sunday morning at his home after a long illness.
He is a former president and financial secretary of the Bricklayers, Masons, Plasterers, Tile Setters and Cement Finishers Local 14 (AFL) here, having served in those posts several years.
Mr. Linton was born on Feb. 28, 1870, in Homer, Mich., a son of James and Jeannie Caldwell Linton.
He was married to Josie Curtis on Nov. 19, 1890, in Homer. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last Friday.
Before coming to Ann Arbor in 1916, he had built museums, schools, and libraries in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and South Dakota. After he came here, he worked as a mason contractor. He also was one of the organizers of the Ann Arbor Co-op.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Elsie G. Davy of Detroit and Mrs. Alta Pierce of Ann Arbor; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Staffan-Hildinger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edwin J. Weiss officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
