CHELSEA - Mrs. Martha A. Cooper, 87, died this morning, after a long illness, at the Chelsea Methodist Home where she had been living for the past five years. She was a member of the Metropolitan Methodist Church of Detroit.
Mrs. Cooper was born Jan. 4, 1869, in Stockbridge, a daughter of Lucius and Mary Presley Bowdish and on Aug. 16, 1899, married George R. Cooper, who died Oct. 10, 1929.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Inez Brooks of Olympia, Wash.; a niece, Mrs. Maybell Isham of Battle Creek, and a nephew, Philip James, Detroit.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Chelsea Methodist Home chapel with the Rev. Matthew J. Betts officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Howell. Friends may call at the Burghardt Funeral Home.
