Police To Question Wayne County Youths In Murder

YPSILANTI -- Three Wayne county teen-agers were slated for questioning today into the Dec. 23 Willow Run Airport robbery-murder following their arrest in connection with an armed robbery of a Van Born Rd. store south of Inkster last night.

State police detectives said one of the three suspects had been questioned briefly before on the pipe-slugging killing of a Port Huron man at the airport.

Held in the Washtenaw County Jail pending questioning on the murder case are Eddie Smiley, jr., 19, of Inkster; Ralph Wilson, 18, also of Inkster, and Percy Taylor, jr., 18, of Wayne.

Troopers said the trio was arrested in a friend’s Inkster home shortly after the 8 p.m. robbery, in which the store proprietor was slugged. “Some” of the $100 to $150 stolen has been recovered, detectives said.

Two other men are being sought for questioning about last night’s robbery, officers said.
