Mrs. Ella May Mast
Brief Illness Fatal To Chelsea Woman
CHELSEA - Mrs. Ella May Mast, 75, of 549 N. Main St. here died Tuesday afternoon at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor after a brief illness. She was taken to the hospital Thursday. She had been in poor health the past several years.
Mrs. Mast was the Chelsea representative during the past three years for Goodwill Industries.
She had been a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 130 of Chelsea for more than 30 years.
Mrs. Mast lived the past 15 years with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Gieske, at the Main St. address.
She was born Feb. 6, 1882, in Sylvan township. She was the daughter of Philip and Louisa Notten Schweinfurth.
She married Carl Mast Oct. 7, 1911, in Ann Arbor. He died Sept. 3, 1953.
Surviving are the daughter with whom Mrs. Mast lived, Mrs. Geraldine Gieske; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Fahrner of Grand Rapids; a brother, Albert Schweinfurth of Notten Rd. near Chelsea; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Burghardt Funeral Home here. The Rev. S. D. Kinde will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Thursday.
