SOUTH LYON - John Galligan, 69, died Saturday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor after a two-year illness. He was born in County Cork, Ireland, on May 5, 1888.
Mr. Galligan had lived in South Lyon for the past 40 years and was self-employed as a plumber before his illness. He was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of the Lovewell-Hill Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in South Lyon.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Milford with the Rev. Richard Haney officiating. Burial will be made in St. Mary's Cemetery there.
