Local Group May Buy WOIA
A local group, called the Lester Broadcasting Corp., has applied to the Federal Communications Commission for permission to buy radio station WOIA of 3301 Brassow Rd., Lodi township.
The announcement was made today by Herbert W. Lester of 2313 Devonshire Rd., president and treasurer of the Lester firm, who said he expects a decision from the FCC "within 30 to 60 days" on the projected purchase of WOIA.
It is a 500-watt station owned by the Saline Broadcasting Co., Inc., and has been broadcasting since January, 1958, in Washtenaw and portions of Lenawee, Livingston, Jackson, Monroe and Wayne counties.
Directors of the Lester firm are Realtor Harold E. Groves, jr., Howard L. Wikel of Wikel Drug Co., Jay Huntington of Liberty Music Shops, Inc., all of Ann Arbor, and William H. Dance, a Detroit attorney. Dance is also secretary of the corporation.
