Burglars Hit Jewelry Store
A break-in discovered yesterday afternoon at Schlanderer & Sojis Jewelry Store at 208 S. Main St. netted thieves about $2,000 in watches and rings.
Ann Arbor Patrolman Thurman Warford found the front door of the store had been forced as he started his rounds at 3:45 p.m. yesterday. The entire lock on the door had been removed and the door pushed open.
A check of the interior of the store revealed drawers in the store had been ransacked and several trays which held watches and rings had been stolen. Two showcases had been broken into. An entire breakdown of the missing items was to be made by owners of the store later today. The approximate time of the break-in has not as yet been determined.
