Dr. Olds’ Mother Succumbs At 97
YPSILANTI – Burial services for Mrs. Myrtle Warner Olds, mother of Dr. Lloyd W. Olds, head of the Eastern Michigan University department of physical education, were held this afternoon at Highland Cemetery here.
Mrs. Olds, who was born Oct. 3, 1862, and was the second oldest graduate of the local institution, died suddenly last Saturday at the age of 97 at the home of a daughter at St. Johns, Mich.
After graduating from the then Michigan State Normal School in 1880, she taught for two years at a rural school at Gagetown, Mich., then married George Olds, who died many years ago.
Surviving besides Dr. Olds are two daughters, Mrs. Lee DeWitt of St. Johns and Mrs. Ralph Hubbard of Safety Harbor, Fla.; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Hogh Funeral Parlor at St. Johns this morning.
