Edward W. Jones, 86, of 814 Brooks St., a retired employee of the Godfrey Moving and Storage Co. and former school crossing guard at Mack School, died this morning at his home following a long illness. Mr. Jones was born on June 18, 1874, at Escanaba, a son of Charles and Olive Jones. He and Lavina Heibine were married on July 29, 1896, in Ann Arbor. She survives. An employee of the Godfrey firm here for 50 years, Mr. Jones served as school crossing guard at Mack School for six years. He was a member of the local IOOF lodge. He also was a member of the former Otto’s Band of Ann Arbor. Survivors, in addition to this wife, include a daughter, Mrs. Samuel Brantley of Ann Arbor; a sister, Mrs. Elmer Nordman of Washington, D. C.; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Staffan-Hildinger Funeral Home, with the Rev. D. F. Bracklein officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
