Commission Officers Named In Superior
YPSILANTI — Donald Staebler is the first chairman of Superior township’s new Planning Commission, it was announced today. Staebler formerly headed the township’s Zoning Board, which was succeeded by the commission.
Other commission officers are Elden L. Brigham, vice-chairman, and Mrs. Ruth G. Eckert, secretary. Mrs. Eckert also is the township clerk.
Announcement of the new group’s officers followed a meeting last night that had been termed an organizational session. Selection of officers, however, actually had taken place at a gathering of most of the commission members following their appointments at a Township Board meeting Oct. 2.
Other members of the new commission are Richard Wagner and Lionel Guregian. They, like Staebler and Brigham, were Zoning Board members.
The new commission’s first chairman is a dairy farmer and mechanical research technician. He lives at 7734 Plymouth Rd. The vice-chairman, who lives at 1740 Superior Rd., is an assistant personnel officer in charge of plant personnel at the University of Michigan.
The Planning Commission was established following authorization by Superior township voters in September. The township is the first one in Washtenaw county to have such a group.
The commission’s regular meetings will be held at 8 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month in the Township Hall.
