Mortimer Keene
YPSILANTI - Mortimer Keene, 81, of 2156 Holmes Rd., Ypsilanti township, retired painter and decorator, died Wednesday afternoon at his home, after a long illness.
He was born June 2, 1875, in Dansville, Mich., a son of Joseph and Sarah Royce Keene. He married Orrie B. Squires in Detroit on July 6, 1908. She died Dec. 26, 1956.
The couple had come to Ypsilanti in 1952 from Dansville.
Survivors are a son, Joseph W. of Beaverton, Mich., two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Frances) Sherman of Dansville and Miss Ernestine H. Keene, at home; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Vogt Funeral Home at Dansville, with the Rev. David Crane of the Ypsilanti Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Dansville. Friends may call at the Stevens & Bush Funeral Home beginning at 6 p.m. today through Friday evening.
