A new business - the Coffee Cup - will be opened at E. Liberty St. and S. Fourth Ave. about July 1, Angelo T. Mallis of 508 Cherry St., owner announced today.
Mallis has leased a restaurant at the E. Liberty - S. Fourth location from Mrs. Charles L. Brooks of Ann Arbor. She will have a new front put on the restaurant and a new ceiling, new lighting, new floor installed at its interior.
Architect Donald Van Curler of Ann Arbor is doing the restaurant's design work. The facility will have a U-shaped counted with seating for 20 persons and will have all new equipment, including air conditioning.
Mallis said up to five persons will be employed in serving breakfasts and lunches and catering to the "coffee break" trade.
He and James Bartz are co-owners of the Golden Butterfly Coffee Shop of 1201 S. University, which they are selling to a Detroit restaurant chain.
