Miss Mary E. B. Lutz, daughter of a pioneer Ann Arbor family, died this morning at the age of 93, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a two weeks' illness.
Miss Lutz was born Dec. 3, 1869, in the family home at 1048 W. Liberty St. where she lived her entire life. She was the daughter of Mathias and Barbara Reisle Lutz, pioneer settlers of the city.
She was employed as a clerk by her brother, Albert S. Lutz, in his shoe store which was located in the Lutz Building, 109-111 E. Washington St. where the National Bank and Trust Co. is now located, until her retirement in 1927.
Miss Lutz was a member of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ and was active in the Ladies' Aid Society of the church.
She was known as avid gardener. She traveled throughout the country until recent years.
Miss Lutz is survived by a niece, Mrs. Charles (Vera) Rees of Ann Arbor; a nephew, Lauren Lutz of Syracuse, N. Y., and a sister-in-law, Mrs. James DeGoglio of St. Petersburg, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert S., in 1958, at the age of 84, John in 1957, at the age of 89, and Oscar, in 1955, at the age of 76.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Ernest R. Klaudt officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
