Glee Club Applauded In Austria

JUN 25 1963 TUE

VIENNA, Austria--(AP) The Men’s Glee Club of the University of Michigan captured a small but enthusiastic Austrian audience today with student songs, American folk songs and Negro spirituals in a private concert hall here.

The choir, on a European concert tour, won special applause for the performance of the Michigan song “Victors” and a cross-section of American musicals.

It was the Club’s first performance in Vienna. The club’s director, Philip A. Duey, said after the concert he was disappointed in the size of the audience. “However, this, may be due to the little advertising we did beforehand,” he added.

The choir goes to Czechoslovakia tomorrow.
