Deputy Police Chief Walter E. Krasnv today announced the resignation of Patrolman Ray M. Estey. 24, a member of the department for the past three years.

Estey, a former military policeman with the U. S.-Marine Corps, joined the local force in the fall of 1960.

Deputy Chief Krasny said Estey resigned for personal reasons.

The resignation leaves the Police Department three short of the 61-patrolman complement for the force. The deputy chief said written and oral examinations for the three appointments will be held by Burke Raymond, city personnel director, on Oct. 2. Those who make passing grades on the examinations will then have their background checked by a police investigator with the top three men then being selected.

Applicants are asked to contact the Police Department for further information.
