About the Artist:
This series presents the work of Milton Kemnitz, a long-time resident and artist, who has attracted wide recognition as a recorder of the changing Ann Arbor scene. Free reprints are available, upon request, at any Quarry store.
University Zoo
How many boys and girls in years past pulled loose from their slower-moving parents and dashed up to the fence surrounding the University's tiny zoo located behind the Museums Building? No one knows because there was no admission charge and one was free to gaze at the animals for as long as one wished.
The inhabitants of the little round zoo included foxes, raccoons, skunks and other small animals, but the stars of the show were always a pair of huge bears, appropriately named "Maize" and "Blue". The zoo had to go in order to make room for a museum annex, but the pleasure it gave will long be recalled.
The Quarry is proud to offer, free of charge, a quality 9 x 12 reproduction of this original painting - suitable for framing. Come in to any of Quarry's three convenient stores and start your collection of these fine reprints. Watch our advertisements for more in this series.
