When traffic barricades at the site of the new University Towers apartment building were removed, the resulting parking area was occupied quickly by motorcycles, an increasingly popular means of student transportation. Apartments in the 18-story building are designed primarily for University students. The building has been involved in controversy, with one of the Issues having been parking. Towne Realty, developers of the structure, will build a 499-vehicle carport over the city’s nearby Forest Ave. Parking area. The parking facility is expected to be completed by February.
