YPSILANTI - Mrs. Claribel Colby, 79, of 5345 Bemis Rd., Ypsilanti Township, died yesterday at the Chelsea Methodist Home.
Born Dec. 13, 1885, in Denton, she was married to Grover Colby Nov. 10, 1910, in Cherry Hill. Mr. Colby died in 1962. The couple lived most of their lives in the Ypsilanti area. Mrs. Colby was a member of the Stoney Creek Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church.
Surviving are one sons, Grover Colby Jr. of Dexter; five daughters, Mrs. Orval (Doris) Thorne of Ann Arbor, Mrs. George (Lucile) Nelson of New Haven, Mrs. Robert (Orvilla) Somers of Kalamazoo; Mrs. Frank (Esther) Bongiovanni and Mrs. Sam (Bessie) Bongiovanni, both of Northville; a sister, Mrs. Eugene Conant of Plymouth; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Stoney Creek Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Charles Kishbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Stoney Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stevens and Bush Funeral Home in Ypsilanti until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and at the church from noon until the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stoney Creek Methodist Church Memorial fund.
