Michigan captured seventh
place in the final United Press
International basketball pool
after winning the Big Ten title,
while Kentucky, the success
story of the year, was acclaimed
national champion for 1965-66
by the UPI Board of Coaches.
The Wildcats, who took over
the top position from Duke one
month ago, received 24 first-
place voles from the 35-man UPI
board. Duke, the Atlantic Coast
Conference champion, was sec-
ond with seven first-place nom-
inations.
It marked the third time that
Kentucky had captured the UPI
-•itional title but the first 9me
re 1952. No other school has
wuii more than two champion-
ships.
The final ratings included four
teams in the Top Ten who were
overlooked in t h e pre-season

cuse, Pacific, Davidson, Brig-
