The opening of a new restaurant, which will offer classical French cuisine, has been scheduled for sometime in October, according to an announcement by Restaurant Associates, Inc.
To be called La Seine, the restaurant, which will aim for quality and leisurely dining in quiet surroundings, will be at 109 S. Main.
Principals who make up Restaurant Associates, Inc. are Frank G. Handy, William J. Conlin, Dr. David Shipman, Dale Fosdick, Robert Jones, Harold Stark Jr., Guido Colling, Gerald Meyer and John Mersereau.
Planned dining area for the restaurant will include a formal dining room, an intimate cocktail lounge, and a less formal dining area with a piano bar. Seating capacity will be for 150 persons.
Frank Handy, one of the owners, stated that Les Gruber, a noted restauranteur, will serve as a consultant for the wine selection.
Under consideration is the hiring of European-trained chefs and French speaking waiters.
Owners of the restaurant state that all efforts are now under way to make La Seine a distinctive and quality dining place.
