An outdoor reception, sponsored by the City Sesquicentennial Commission, will honor about 1,500 visiting Orientalists Monday evening.
To be held on the grounds of the Ann Arbor Municipal Golf Course along Fuller, the reception will start at 4:30 p.m. and last until 6 p.m.
In addition to the visiting Orientalists, about 500 invited Ann Arbor residents will be on hand to greet the visitors.
Planned for the reception, which will take place under tents to be set up on the golf course, is entertainment by the Unpredictables, a local group of musicians, and serving of refreshments. | Members of the Ann Arbor Junior Chamber of Commerce and their wifes have volunteered to host the reception and serve the more than 2,000 guests. Most of the visiting Orientalists will be transported by University buses to the reception, where Mayor Wendell E. Hulcher will address a few words of welcome to the visitors. With the exception of Hulcher's short address, no formal program has been planned.
S. Sheldon Sproull, city Park Department superintendent, said that city workmen will spray the outdoor area prior to the reception to eliminate mosquitoes and gnats.
City police have volunteered to cordon off an adjoining area of the golf course to be used for parking, and will patrol the area.
