Parks Get
Cluttered
By Flood

The past week's rain and
flooding temporarily altered
some of Ann Arbor's parks in
ways that do not fit the cate-
gory of beautification.

Litter that was deposited
where the Huron River left its
banks will not all be carried
away as the river returns to
normal.

Parks Supt S. Sheldon Sproull
has asked for volunteers to help
city crews pick up the debris
and carry it to the trucks. He
expects the job to take all of
next week.

"We've had help in the past
in cleaning up man-made litter.
Now we need help in cleaning up
after an act of providence."

He said help will be needed
particularly at Galiup Park, the
Municipal Golf Course, Island
Park, Riverside Park, Plymouth
Parkway and Huron Park.

Sproull asked that organized
groups wishing to help call the
Parks Department at City Hall,
7('11 2400, beginning Monday

i -fling, so that volunteers can
jL»e assigned efficiently.
