U-M Hospital Official’s Wife Dies At 39
Mrs. Paul E. (Evelyn) Wasson, 39, of 3200 Pittsview Dr„ formerly of Ypsilanti, died yesterday after a long illness in University Hospital.
An employe of the X-ray Department at University Hospital, Mrs. Wasson was a member of the Metropolitan Memorial Baptist Church of Ypsilanti, the Ypsilanti Youth Commission and the Ypsilanti Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Her husband, chairman of the Washtenaw County Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, resigned from that post Jan. 23 because of his wife’s illness. He also is supervisor of transportation and emergency service at U-M hospital.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Wasson is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Hollifield of Ypsilanti, Brenda J. Robinson and Barbara G. Robinson, both at home; one son, Paul E. Wasson Jr., at home and a step-daughter, Mrs. Michael McKivens of Ann Arbor.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Ypsilanti. Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens.
Friends have established the Evelyn Marie Wasson Memorial Fund for the benefit of her children. Contributions may be made to Thomas Dickinson of the Ann Arbor Trust Co.
