The board hired Larry Straits, a part-time deputy with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department, to serve as a part-time “sheriff” for the township. He will work a 26-hour week and receive a salary of $5,800 per year plus 10 cents a mile for mileage.

A budget of $81,405 was adopted. Last year’s figure totaled $68,185.

The township meetings will now be held the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 8 p.m. Previously, meetings were held on the first and third Mondays of the month at the same time.
