YPSILANTI — A second
Eastern Michigan University
student has been arrested in
connection with the burning of
a barn on the farm where po-
lice believe 13-year-o'' P-vn

Clyde Surrell, 19, of Ypsilanti,
a neighbor of the dead girl,
stood mute in District Court
Monday on a charge of aiding
and abetting arson. He was re-
leased on $2,000 bond pending
a hearing.
His arrest came three days
after his roommate, Ralph R.
Kress, 21, of Harper Woods, was
charged with arson. He is free
on $5,000 bond pending a court
appearance Thursday.
State Police said Kress told of
going to the deserted farm on
LeForge Rd. in Superior Town-
ship May 13 with two com-
panions. Hay in the loft of the
barn was set on fire, police
said, and the building burned to
the ground.
Dawn was the fifth young
woman murdered in the Ypsi-
lanti - Ann Arbor area in the
past two years. Police found
articles of her clothing in a
farmhouse adjoining the barn
that was burned and theorized
she had been slain there.
Her body was found April 13
beside C;;', T;iL, in Superior
Townshil a mile from
the barn. '
