When Mrs. Emil Jebe sits down to the organ in her home she sits down to an 11-stop, 14-rank, two manual (61 notes each), 32-note pedalboard walnut beauty.
It isn't the kind of organ common in homes. It's a pipe organ, 95 1/2 inches wide, 93 1/2 inches high, and 88 inches deep.
Mrs. Jebe, who lives at 2650 Laurentide, is a member of a new Ann Arbor group, the American Guild of Organists. The local chapter was organized in September "to raise the standards of religious music in Ann Arbor and to bring outstanding people to Ann Arbor who are in this field," according to Mrs. Clare Warren of Chelsea.
Mrs. Jebe will demonstrate her organ when the group holds its monthly meeting at her home at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Membership in the organization is open to organists, choirmasters or anyone interested in supporting sacred music.
Its officers are Michele Johns, dean; Donald Williams, sub-dean; Cleveland Page, treasurer; and Karen Albers, secretary. Additional information is available from Michele Johns at 668-7709.
