BO ALLOWS WOLVERINES A DAY OFF

By Wayne DeNeff

PASADENA, Calif.—Michigan football Coach Bo Schembechler, pleased with the way the Wolverines have played in four straight practices, has given them Sunday off.

Originally, a light drill had been scheduled for Sunday, but Schembechler said, “They’ve given me four hard practices and we’re knocking off until Monday.”

It won’t exactly be a day for lying around.

Fifteen Wolverines are scheduled for final examinations here which couldn’t be completed before the team left Ann Arbor Thursday. Some have expressed a desire to see the Pacific Ocean and there will be quite a few sight-seeing trips.

Schembechler said that sophomore tailback Glenn Doughty had been particularly impressive in practice and that if the Rose Bowl were going to be played tomorrow against Southern California, Doughty would start in place of Billy Taylor. Taylor has been slowed by a strained muscle in his leg and is only going at half speed.

Also on the injured list is junior middle guard Henry Hill, who suffered a knee injury Saturday morning. Hill did not practice Saturday afternoon, but Schembechler said he would be ready again on Monday.
