It Was A Great Season!

IT WAS A GREAT SEASON!
Michigan’s great 1969 football squad returned from Pasadena Friday night to find that the reaction in Ann Arbor to their New Year’s Day loss in the Rose Bowl was about the same as the team’s. Michigan fans were disappointed but more concerned about the condition of Coach Bo Schembechler, who remained in California to recover from a heart attack.
Considering all of Michigan’s handicaps, including injuries but principally the loss of the head coach’s leadership during the game, the Wolverines’ performance was excellent. They battled all the way through the final seconds against a fine Southern California team.
It would have been nice to cap the season with a Rose Bowl victory, but nothing that happened on Jan. 1 could detract from the record of the team that upset Ohio State on Nov. 22. That is the game we’ll remember!
So, congratulations to you Men of Michigan, and “thanks for the memories.”
