Book Stores Investigated
Two book stores here are under investigation by the County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for selling allegedly obscene materials.
An employe of one of the bookstores—the Fourth Ave. Book Store at 215 S. Fourth Ave.—had asked city police for an opinion on the obscenity of some of the materials and presented police with the materials. The police then sent the material to Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Casper Kast.
The other book store in question is located next door at 217 S. Fourth Ave. and the reported owner of that store—Mahoney Enterprises—is Harry Mahoney of Durand. Owner of the Fourth Ave. Book Store is reported as Lee Pack.
