U Protester Faces Trial

A U-M student who allegedly threw a rock at an Ann Arbor policeman dring the Black Action Movement protest four months ago has been ordered to stand trial on the charge in Circuit Court July 24.

Thaddeus R. Harrison Jr., 17, of 921 S. Main, is charged with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder.

He was originally bound over to Circuit Court for trial in April, but his case was then returned to District Court for further findings last month.

Yesterday, during Harrison’s pretrial examination, Judge Pieter Thomassen ruled that the prosecution had established the fact that a crime had been committed with reasonable possibility that Harrison had committed it.

His trial will be heard by Circuit Court Judge Ross Campbell.
