A Washtenaw County sheriff's deputy and an Ann Arbor fireman were honored yesterday by the Independent Insurance Agents of Ann Arbor at the Town Club. Sheriff's Sgt. Leo Wiest (left) and Fire Lt. Laurel Bauer (second from left) received a medal, plaque and savings bond. Wiest was honored for his role in capturing an armed fugitive, and Bauer was honored for devoting his own time to learning cardio pulmonary resuscitation and teaching ambulance drivers the proper methods. The agents' president, Bob McShane (right), made the presentations, assisted by the group's secretary, Andre Barroso.
