Blues Artists To Play Here Sunday Night

Dave Alexander, blues artist, will join the major performers of the blues who are coming to Ann Arbor to play at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the University of Michigan Events Building.

Others who have agreed to appear to raise funds to pay off last summer’s blues festival are Otis Rush, Johnny Winter, Luther Allison and Junior Wells.

All of the artists have agreed to appear for just expense money so that the maximum amount of money taken in at the benefit concert will go to make up the deficit facing Canterbury House and the University Activities Center.

Tickets to the concert are in the form of donations of $3.50 to $5.50. A limited number of patron seats are available at $10.

Because of a rock concert in the area, a reduction in the price of tickets and less than hoped for attendance, the Blues Festival last August came up with a deficit of $40,000.

Sponsors of the Sunday concert feel that the Events Building must be fairly well sold out to make enough money to cover the deficit.

Those appearing on the program were among the stars who were here last summer.

Ann Arbor is about the only place in the country where a pure Blues Festival is held. The event first was undertaken two years ago.
