Harry Schmid Of Moe’s Dies

Harry Schmid, 73, of 415 N. Main, a native and well-known resident of Ann Arbor, died this morning at Huron View Lodge, following a brief illness.

Mr. Schmid had worked at Moe’s Sport Shop at 711 N. University from 1930 until approximately six months ago.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the local Moose and Elk Lodges.

Mr. Schmid was born May 15, 1898. He was the son of Fred and Frederica Schneider Schmid. On Sept. 26, 1923, he married Lucille Schaible of Ann Arbor.

Survivors include his wife; a son, assistant fire chief Fred J. of Ann Arbor; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Earl (Florence) Cress of Ann Arbor; a brother, Roland, of Ann Arbor, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Muehlig Chapel with the Rev. Fred Holtfretter officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
