VanAkkeren, Mrs. Jacob J. (Helena M.)

Age 89, passed away Thursday evening at the Huron View Lodge after a long illness. Mrs. VanAkkeren was born on April 19, 1884, in Harlingen, Netherlands, and was the daughter of Dirk and Rinske Flietstra Albertsma. On Aug. 24, 1908, she was married to Mr. VanAkkeren; he passed away on Dec. 31, 1951. For more than 20 years Mrs. VanAkkeren owned and operated the VanAkkeren Knit Shop. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Robert R. (Jennie) Dieterle and Mrs. Florence Hoseney, both of Ann Arbor; one son, John J. of Eureka, Calif; nine grandchildren, including Dr. Richard V.A. Dieterle of Ann Arbor; five sisters, including Mrs. Gerritt Preesman of Ypsilanti; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Dieterle, 950 Stein Rd., from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday
