Prof. Hibbard Dies At Work

Dr. Claude W. Hibbard, 68, U-M professor of geology and curator of fossil vertebrates in the University’s Museum of Paleontology, died suddenly today at the museum. He lived at 1709 Morton. He died of an apparent heart attack while at work.

A member of the U-M faculty for the past 27 years, Prof. Hibbard was internationally-known in his field and was a past president of the American Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, the Kansas Academy of Science, the Michigan Academy of Science Arts and Letters, and of the Michigan Basin Geological Society.

Funeral arrangements by the Muehlig Funeral Chapel are incomplete.
