Downtown Office Opened By Sycor

Sycor, Inc., leader in manufacture of intelligent communications terminals, has expanded its service operations by opening an office in downtown Ann Arbor, the firm announced. The company, headquartered in its 114,000-square-foot facility in the Ann Arbor Industrial Park, has taken occupancy on 6,300 square feet at 320 N. Main St.

The new location will house the company’s field service and sales education activities. The technical operations group of field service provides field technical support as well as service training and documentation for both domestic and OEM customers.

The group, headed by James Edkin, also operates Sycor’s communications test station which provides national diagnostic backup support for 80 Sycor service locations in the United States. Direct customer servicing is also provided from the new facility to all Sycor locations in the central United States and Canada under the direction of C. L. Bryant.

Sales education and training facilities are also incorporated at Sycor’s new downtown office. The sales training staff, under Jack Stutler, provides classes to domestic Sycor users on the use of the Company’s Model 340 intelligent communications and Model 250 intelligent display terminals. The N. Main facility accommodates classroom space for 16 Sycor customers. Classes are held continuously.

The move was made, according to Paul C. LaVoie, vice president-marketing, to consolidate the company’s service operations. LaVoie further commented, “This move, occasioned by the Company’s growth — both in terms of revenues and personnel — allows us to provide more intensive attention to our customer’s needs.”

Sycor has 20 sales offices and 95 service centers throughout the United States and Canada. More than 12,000 Sycor terminals are currently at work in 34 countries around the world.
