Firm Revamped; New Board OKd

A new board of directors has been elected in an reorganization of Omnitext, Inc., local graphic arts and video-display word processing firm.

Charles Newman, cofounder of Omnitext, is a member of the new board and was elected its chairman.

Newman told shareholders, “Change is inevitable and therein lies opportunity for Omnitext. We will reorient our business operation from a technical to a marketing company with extensive manufacturing capabilities.

“Video display word processing is our business and we have gained some recognition in the graphic arts industry. We will continue to build on that strength.”

Arnold Ott, named board vice chairman, firm president and chief executive officer: commented: “We have a firm backlog of $1.5 million in orders. We are operating profitably under the unified effort of our team."

Ott, is president of Doan Resources Corp. and partner of Doar Associates of Midland. Other directors include Herbert D. Doan, chairman of Doan Resources and partner of Doan Associates, and former president of Dow Chemical Co.; Michael L. Dow, executive vice president of Panax Corp., East Lansing; Alan W. Ott, president of the Chemical Bank & Trust Co. of Midland; Sanford R. Robertson, San Francisco investment banker, and William C. Wiek, manager of the Computer Research Division of Booth Newspapers Inc., Ann Arbor.

Other company officers besides Newman and Arnold Ott are W. Edwin Boyette, executive vice president; Donald P. Rossbach, financial officer; C. Robert Sanders, vice president of manufacturing; and Charles L. Schaldenbrand, vice president of marketing.

Company headquarters are at 251 Jackson Plaza.
